WELCOME

I’m more of a jack-of-trades type through the years being unclear about what I ought to be doing. I couldn’t quite articulate what I was really passionate about. I know more than ever now though that I crave personal freedom to live life on my own terms with more time to focus on what brings me joy.

My interests, hobbies, and pleasures that I desire to spend more time on include personal finance, personal development, reading, watching movies, just chilling, knitting and crocheting (even though I’ve only completed about 2 projects in all the years since I first started), traveling, going to the beach, or whatever else sparks my interest at any given point in time. Most of all I love the Lord and I love my family (which include beautiful grand babies) and just being around them.

I believe that not having a good handle on one’s finances can be a deterrent to living the life you dream of. I’ve created this blog aiming to provide practical, pertinent information about the topic of personal finance that provides a road map of sorts since it can be overwhelming to know where to start, especially for those of us getting started later in life. Additionally, blogging enables me to experience some of the personal freedom I alluded to earlier, because I can work from any location day, night, or in between provided I have internet connection. Don’t get me wrong now, if you have any hope of being successful you’ll do well to have some established schedule and you have to do the work. That said I much prefer being my own boss and having the say so over my schedule and earning potential.

I’ve not achieved financial independence yet and at almost 50 years old am still in debt. I’m working a plan (Dave Ramsey is my top go to for financial guidance. He may not be your flavor and can seem a bit harsh but he means well and his system works) to pay it off and work toward FI. I hope to encourage and empower you to get started on your own journey and release yourself from the paralytic state of feeling that you are too old.

Paths along the way will be different for everyone but I also aim to help you find ways to enjoy the journey and celebrate small victories. It takes discipline and dedication to stay committed to the goal of achieving financial freedom and living the life you want, but I urge you to make deliberate plans to enjoy the journey even if funds are very tight. There are many low cost to free ways to do so. We are all at different starting points with varying reasons but today is a new day and while we take lessons from the past, it is just that. It’s time to move forward. Let’s get on it today.

I will occasionally offer glimpses into my own life’s journey in hopes to help motivate you to kick-start or keep going on your own.

I want you to know that I appreciate you so much for visiting. Sign up below if you are ready to start your journey and be the first to know when I post new content.
