First some preliminaries and disclaimers…

  1. I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior and I also believe that any effort on my part without Him leading and guiding my intentions and actions, even if successful by world standards is in vain and carries no merit for my eternal wellbeing. True healing is from God.
  2. I am not a doctor, I have no medical training, and no background in nutrition. All I have is myself and what I’ve done and am continuing to do to heal my mind and body. In so doing I am able to think clearer about who I am, what I want, and how it’s not too late for me at 53 years old to build the life of my dreams.

Introduction

I started the keto-carnivore diet to see if it could help at the very least minimize the constant pain in my legs due to osteoarthritis in my knees, ankles, and feet. I am happy to say that it’s done just that and so much more than I expected. Now I am able to envision success in my life, set goals, make plans, and execute them to make my vision possible.

If you are in your fifties, as I am, or older and feel like you have nothing to show for the half a century or more that you’ve been alive do not despair there is hope for you yet. I can attest to this as I embark on a journey to upgrade my life at age 53 years. And it’s all with the help of a carnivore diet…at least it’s what started my journey of hope for better life.

As the world measures success, I haven’t achieved much. I have lived with major depression which have impacted every area of my life from my relationships, to my finances to my career. In addition to depression I am overcoming ocd, anxiety, other chronic health conditions like being overweight, fibromyalgia, psoraisis/eczema, just to name a few.

Whatever your goals in any of the areas addressed below, please bear in mind, my point is not that the carnivore diet is a magic bullet for success. What I am saying is that the carnivore diet’s impact on both physical and mental health is so profound for many people that they begin thinking and acting in ways previously foreign to them, so that they can’t but become successful.

What Is A Keto-Carnivore Diet?

This article is not a deep dive on the carnivore diet. It is rather a brief overview with the focus being the different ways it can enhance your life with a little bit of the how and why. I plan to go more in depth about the diet itself in a later post.

A ketogenic diet is a high fat low carbohydrate way of eating. Thus a keto-carnivore diet consists of eating high fat, all animal and animal products, with low to no carbohydrates. In the carnivore space it’s considered by many as the proper human diet (PHD). Some people are in it for the long haul, while others use it as the ultimate elimination diet and later add other foods back in slowly to help uncover which foods may be causing them issues. The aim in eating this way is to get your body into into a state called ketosis.

What is Ketosis?

A low-carb high-fat way of eating such as the carnivore diet helps get the body to a state of ketosis that causes your body to burn fat for energy instead of glucose.

Being in ketosis may help with any or all the following…

  • More satiety and longer periods of fullness
  • Balanced hormones (thyroid, libido, bone, cancer)
  • Less sugar and processed food cravings
  • More energy
  • Better sleep
  • Mental clarity
  • Better joint function and improved mobility
  • Less overall pain
  • Reduction or elimination of medications
  • Better weight management
  • Reduce or eliminate addictive tendencies
  • More open to socialization
  • More and better communication

As a Christian spending quiet time with God praying and reading the Bible daily is very important. It’s the most basic and essential tenet of fostering a healthy relationship with your Lord and Savior. The best time of day for this, in my opinion, is as soon as possible after waking in the morning, before you’re obligated to get into the reality of life. It sets the tone for the day and equips you to better handle whatever life throws at for for the rest of it.

If you have low energy, don’t sleep well, or have brain fog, it’s hard to wake up early enough to have sufficient time, let alone be able to focus properly on reading and praying. You’ll often doze of multiple times while reading, completely forget what you read, and not understand what you read. The Bible is the most wonderful book to read and learn from but it’s not the easiest read.

The benefits of more energy, better cognition, improved mental clarity can go a long way in overcoming the obstacles that can impede this precious time with your Savior. Another area of Christian life that can be positively impacted is fellowship with other believers as you become better at communicating and socializing

Poor physical health negatively impairs quality of life significantly and most 50-plus year olds accept this as just a natural part of the aging process. They honestly believe they just have to live with it. Well I say NO! As long as you are living you deserve to feel your best and to get out there and live it up, and I don’t mean in a doctor’s office or hospital.

Give the keto-carnivore diet a try and say “No” to all these conditions that drain you of true life, that can lead to depression, and affect so many other areas of our life:

The keto-carnivore diet is not a cure-all for everything or for everyone, but it can and have helped many people kickstart positive change in their life. I like the simplicity of it. I was so tired and burnt out when I started that I could not take on anything too complicated. I needed it to be real simple.

I started it because I heard it could help alleviate pain and I was dealing with significant pain due to osteoarthritis and my job that required long hours of standing. I was at my last straw after many other efforts I tried failed and pain medication provided no relief. Unexpectedly, in addition to significantly minimizing the pain of my condition, my skin is clearer, fibromyalgia pain is also gone, I am experiencing better mental clarity, less depression, and I am saying yes more to leaving my house and interactions with others. Also I’ve attended church consistently while I’ve had the chance while on a temporary leave from work. I am notorious for being a recluse and used to feel miserable when I had to leave the house which often caused me to be late for many situations
